The company has ceased using Taylor Farms as a supplier for this ingredient and is working with beef suppliers to ensure safety. The outbreak has resulted in 75 cases across 13 states, with two hospitalizations and one death reported.
The CDC has linked a potential E. coli outbreak to McDonald's Quarter Pounder burgers, with 49 cases and one death reported across 10 states. In response, McDonald's has removed the burgers from affected locations and is investigating both the beef and uncooked onions as possible sources of contamination. Shares of the fast-food chain have dropped 5% amid concerns over a potential sales decline.
